About Horizon Group

Horizon Group is a Calgary, Alberta based public practice accounting firm with a focus on serving the small and medium sized business community.

Our primary focus includes bookkeeping,  financial statement compilation and assurance (review and audit) as well as tax services (income tax and GST) for individuals and businesses.   We also assist our clients with business set-up, retirement planning, purchase and sale of a business and succession and estate planning.

Horizon Group Chartered Professional Accountants was originally started by Barry A. Mah in 1998 as Mah and Company and moved to its current location in 2002.   In 2004, Barry merged firms with Moodie Financial Services.   In February of 2014 Mah and Company changed its name to Horizon Group Professional Accountants after Barry’s passing in 2013.

We are centrally located in West Hillhurst at 303 19 Street NW, Calgary.   Our office is only minutes from downtown but without the hassles of downtown parking,   We offer free parking, both on site and on-street.   Our building has a rather unique history.  It was previously a health food store called Harvest Sun Whole Foods.  Prior to that, from 1988 – 1994,  it was a Rebekah Lodge.

The Firm serves a varied base of clients, ranging from unincorporated businesses to  owner-managed companies both small and those with multi-million dollar assets and revenues.  We also serve many organizations in the non-for-profit sector.   We take pride in the relationships we build with our clientele and in the personalized service we provide.

Our objective has always been to provide expertise and knowledge of the various industries with which we have worked and still provide solutions tailored to individual needs.
